Overcoming the Fear of What Others Will Say
Overcoming the Fear of What Others Will Say
I wanted to write this for a long time, but I never had the courage. Why? Because it seems like everyone else has already thought about this and come up with some great advice. For example, you’ve probably heard someone say: “You’re going to be nervous, but don’t worry about what people think.” This is true—but if that’s all there is on your mind then you’ll never be able to do anything because all of your energy will be spent worrying about other people’s opinions.
In today’s society, the pressure to conform and be accepted by others can be overwhelming. Social media has only amplified this pressure, as we are constantly bombarded with images and messages of perfection and success. It’s easy to get caught up in comparisons and the fear of not measuring up. This can lead to the anxiety of what people will say and the fear of being judged, criticized, or rejected.
But it’s important to remember that the opinions of others do not define who you are. We must learn to break free from this anxiety and reclaim our life.
What am I doing?
The beginning of everything new is filled with excitement and enthusiasm. However, as soon as the initial enthusiasm subsides and we do not see any tangible outcome of our efforts, self doubt starts creeping in.
It is at this moment most people stop doing what they love because they started in the moment of euphoria without a plan.
It is important to understand that anything of substance takes time to build up. The result may not be instantaneous. Lionel Messi once said that it took him many years to become an overnight star. In short, years of efforts result into success.
The more you do something, the better you get at it and more opportunities will be presented to you.
Why do I have to do this?
You have to do this.
You can’t just sit around and wait until something happens.
There are times when we all need a push forward, or some motivation to get over the hump and move forward with our lives and careers.
Most days of our lives involve obstacles we don’t want or expect; sometimes those obstacles come from within ourselves (like anxiety), sometimes from external forces outside ourselves (like job loss). And while these things may seem like small bumps along our journey towards happiness, they can become insurmountable barriers if left unchecked.
It is at this moment that the immediate necessities of life take primacy over the thing you started. In moments like these, you have to be mindful of continuing the momentum and not break it. You just have to do it.
What if people say something negative about me?
When we are feeling anxious, it’s easy to think that people will talk about what they see as flaws in our character. But the truth is that no one is perfect, and everyone has their own set of strengths and weaknesses. Everyone is having same fear and everyone is bothered about opinion of someone about them. Instead of focusing on what others might think about you, focus on how much more positive things can get when we realize how much potential lies within ourselves.
We should not let others dictate how we feel about ourselves.
How can I do this if nobody understands what I’m doing?
It can be challenging to overcome the fear of what others will say when you feel like no one understands what you’re doing. However, it’s important to remember that your journey is unique to you and not everyone will understand it.
Instead of seeking validation from others, focus on finding internal validation and purpose in what you’re doing. Surround yourself with a supportive network of people who believe in your vision and encourage you to pursue your goals. Seek guidance from mentors who have been where you are and can provide valuable insights. And, most importantly, have faith in yourself and your abilities. Trust that you are on the right path and that success is within reach.
Remember, success is not determined by the opinions of others, but by your own persistence and determination.
Follow your path and never give up
One of the best examples of following your path and never giving up is the story of Oprah Winfrey. Oprah was born into poverty in rural Mississippi and had a difficult childhood filled with abuse and trauma. Despite the challenges she faced, Oprah never gave up on her dreams. She worked hard in school and excelled in her studies, eventually earning a full scholarship to Tennessee State University.
After college, Oprah began her career in media as a news anchor and eventually transitioned into hosting her own talk show, “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. The show became a massive success and made Oprah one of the most influential figures in the world. However, her journey to success was not without obstacles. She faced criticism and skepticism from those who doubted her ability to succeed in the highly competitive world of television.
But Oprah never gave up. She continued to work hard and believe in herself, even when others did not. She remained true to her values and vision, and never lost sight of her goal. Her hard work and determination paid off, and she became one of the most successful and influential people in the world.
